Next KidzStuff LIVE is TOMORROW NIGHT SEPT 30

Don't forget tomorrow night is the next KidzStuff LIVE.  This is for both you and your kids.  I know you may have other commitments, but I want you to know that it is very important that you join your kids at KidzStuff LIVE.  Two things of value happen when you are with your kids at this event.  1)  You get to know what your kids are learning throughout the month.  So we get talk about it at church and you get to talk about at home.  That is a great partnership!  2) Your kids look over there shoulder and see you worshipping and learning about God kid style and their faces light up.  There is something special about a shared experience with your kids. We always take our kids to big church, why join them in their environment.  KidzStuff LIVE-- where kids bring parents to learn about God!

@HomeSTUFF September 28 - October3

Our definition for wisdom this month is finding out what you should do and doing it.

Our bottom line for this week was "Wisdom is knowing & doing!"

Our Bible verse this week was "a prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it."  Proverbs 22:3

This is a great week to point out natural consequences.  Cause & effect.  This could be as simple as asking "what would happen if we didn't feed the dog?" or "having your child take a bath without water."

Just take a few moments and look around you.  You can come up with some good illustrations that emphasize the point of knowing the right stuff isn't enough.  You actually have to do the right stuff.

Next month's virtue is one that I am looking forward to talking with you and your kids.  More about that later though!

What if.....

What if…. Especially, what if… in relationship with your kids. Do you ever just stop and dream about your child’s future? Do you realize all children have a future? Sometimes kids grow up and overcome a difficult past to gain a promising future. What if… you began intentionally doing something, big or small, each day to influence your child spiritually? The churches hours are highly limited, about 40, in a given year to build Godliness in your child.

But what if… we (@ church) & you (mom & dad) would work together. Can we really do that? I am beginning to think we can.

Each week we will give you an update of Sunday's Bible story and bottom line.  This will help you talk about the same things we are talking about at church.  Repetition is huge in a child's life.  As a matter of fact, repetition is God's idea of parenting.  Deuteronomy 6 says "to impress" on your child.  This isn't talking about buying them something to impress them so that they will clean their room when you ask.  But to impress on them or repeat so that they will remember.

Let's IMPRESS together!

At Home with your kids September 21-27

Wisdom:  Finding out what you should do and doing it!  We're still talking about wisdom.  This week was a little different with Gordopalooza 3.  We did alot more things in large group than normal.  But here is the story line for you to talk about at home this week.

TO BE WISE, HANG OUT WITH WISE PEOPLE!

2 Chronicles 10:1-19 tells us about King Rehoboam and his way of leading the people.  Rehoboam was Solomon's son and took the throne at Solomon's death.  We have already discussed this month how God gave Solomon wisdom to make decsions and govern the people.

After Rehoboam took the throne a group of people came and asked the king to lighten the burden that his father had put on them.  And if he would they would serve him faithfully.  The king had a decsion to make.

He consulted with 2 groups of people.  The Elders advice was to listen to the people's request.  His friends advice was to make it even harder on the people.  Well the king listened his friend's and made the work harder on the people.

The people resonded by not serving the king and revolting and beginning a new country.  This is where God's people became two nations, Judah and Israel.  This week ask your child questions like:  "what was the king's name?"  "who were the two groups of people?" what were the two groups advice?"  and "what did the king choose to do?"

This helps them learn the story.  Remind them that to be wise you need to hang out with wise people.  I think as parents of elementary students we want them to learn that now, than in middle school.  If so teach and re-teach that now, instead of middle school.

RED + YELLOW= ORANGE  Let's work together!

Date Change for KIDZSTUFF LIVE

Wednesday Night September 30

at 7 PM!

This is one of the most important places you will go during the next 30 days. KIDZSTUFF LIVE just as much about parents as it is kids. As the church partners with you in developing your child's relationship with God, it is important for you to know what your child is talking about at church. October's virtue is...... I'm not quite ready to tell you that infomation. But it is one of those things your child needs know. And if your child can learn this virtue, they can better understand why God put them here!

PLEASE NOTE this is a date change. Usually we do this the first Wednesday of the month. But this month is on September 30. Mark your calendar. Protect the time. Don't miss out on the fun and Bible teaching for your family that will spill into the month of October at your house!

At Home with Your Kids This Week September 14-20

This month we are talking about wisdom.  Our definition of wisdom is finding out what you should do and doing it.  This past Sunday, September 13, your child learned about Queen Sheba's visit to King Solomon.  This story is found in 1 Kings 10:1-13.  As a matter of fact one of the best ways for your child to remember this story would be for you to read it together at home.  Maybe one night you read the story and another day let them tell the story to you.  Let them have some ownership in leading spiritual discussions at your house.  You will probably be amazed at what they know!

We discovered in this story that WISDOM IS WORTH SEARCHING FOR.   People in other countries were beginning to hear about Solomon's wealth & wisdom.  To help your child connect the dots with Solomon.  Solomon was King David's son and took over the throne after David died.  On the first Sunday of September we talked about how Solomon recieved his wisdom.  Solomon could have asked God for anything but he chose to ask for wisdom.  This story is found in 1 kings 3:4-28.  I know it was a holiday weekend so if you weren't here take a few minutes to review that story and talk with your kids about it at home or in the car.

Our Bible verse this week is Proverbs 8:10-11.  Each week we send out an email with a refrigerator door that goes on your refrigerator door with information as to what you can talk about at home with your kids.  I know it can be hard to make formal time to talk about God at home so this will help those in between moments at your house.  Every time you open the refrigerator you are prompted to think about God & your kids.  If you don't recieve that email and would like to please email brendav@fbcmonline.com

Remember to TALK with your KIDS this week about GOD!
