November Virtue is ....................................

Our virtue for November is Cooperation. Cooperation means working together to do more than you can do alone. Well it is about 11 AM on Saturday and I am guessing you are wishing your children would cooperate with you to get some cleaning done around the house. How about that for a very relevant virtue for the month. Also, for the next two month we are going to be talking about broadcasting the love of God by using our virtues for November and December.

 Don’t forget the Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes are out and need to be back soon.

After church tomorrow ask your kids about mosquitoes!!!!!!!!! Big mosquito announcement tomorrow AM.

@HomeStuff week of October 18

Individuality:  discovering who you are meant to be so you can make a difference!

This week our Bible story was about a lady named Dorcas.  We find her story in the book of Acts 9:36-42.  The bottom line for this week was "when you use what you have to help others, you can make a difference."  Dorcas was a lady that made clothes and she was very good at what she did.  The Bible tells us that she was always doing good and helping the poor.  I think she was a lady that helped others without expecting anything in return.

I think that is a great place to have some dialogue at home this week.  It may be in the car or around the dinner table, but just to talk about selfless giving.  I really believe the best way to teach this kind of attitude is to model it before your kids.  Probably one of the biggest places we abuse this selflessness is at a restaraunt.  How we treat our waiter or waitress.  If you have kids around your table, then you have eyes watching how you treat other people.

And what I have found out is that when you treat others with the respect they deserve with no strings attatched, usually they treat you with greater respect!  Let's teach our kids to use what they have to help others, expecting nothing in return!

FYI

Moms and dads you are not alone in your struggle for creating time for important things.  I think the last two weeks of not having an Orange post is example enough to know that I realize the challenge that goes with having maximum impact.  It's easy to let important things occupy the time of the best thing.  So let's make sure and use our influence with your children this week.
